In 2012 after Graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Makerere University and an unsuccessful 2-year job hunt, our founder was pushed to seek other alternatives that could help him earn a living- this is when he enrolled for a fisheries course that then saw him start a business as a fish breeder in Northern Uganda Oyam in 2015.

It was at this point that the opportunities then presented themselves and the need for providing milling services for maize, rice, and sunflower and using the by-products to make fish feeds became more feasible.

However, the business took a sharp twist after witnessing his Late father battle cancer for 2 years and lost the fight this inspired the urgent need to promote a much healthier product as a lifestyle that can be embraced while minimizing the risk of catching cancers related to poor consuming habits.

This birthed the Awelo sun vegetable cold pressed centrifuged extra virgin cooking oil that has
since become the flagship and MVP product for Awelo and is responsible for driving the business growth since 2018.

Awelo is a small, family-owned company that manufactures vegetable cooking oil and adds value to agricultural products to meet the needs of health-conscious people worldwide.
